An analyst persona is a working profile of an individual analyst's coverage, published positions, preferred evidence and stated priorities, maintained to inform how a vendor engages them.
It typically records what they have written, what they have argued for publicly, which claims they have challenged, and what kind of evidence they respond to.
Analyst persona vs. buyer persona
A buyer persona is a composite abstraction assembled from many real people. An analyst persona describes one real, named, findable individual whose work is published and readable.
The research method is therefore completely different: one is synthesis, the other is reading.
Why it matters
Analysts publish their views continuously, under their own names, in public. Arriving at a briefing without having read them is the most common and most avoidable failure in the discipline.
It is also immediately legible to the analyst. Fifteen minutes of preparation is the difference between a conversation and a pitch, and they can tell within the first two.
