A research agenda is the schedule of topics and reports an analyst or firm plans to publish over a coming period, usually communicated in advance to clients.
Agendas typically cover a year and include planned evaluations, market overviews and thematic research, with dates that shift as markets change.
Research agenda vs. evaluation calendar
The agenda covers all planned research. Evaluations are one component of it, and usually the most date-sensitive.
Why it matters
It is the closest thing the industry has to a published roadmap of what analysts will be thinking about next — and it is published, to clients, in advance.
Most vendors discover a firm's direction by reading the output. The agenda offers the same information earlier, in a form that can still be acted on.
