A strategy day is an extended paid engagement in which one or more analysts work through a client's specific situation over a half or full day, going deeper than the standard inquiry format allows.
Also called an advisory day. It is contracted separately from a standard subscription, and typically involves preparation by the analyst, a structured agenda and a written or verbal set of conclusions.
Strategy day vs. a long briefing
A briefing of any length remains vendor-to-analyst. A strategy day is analyst-to-client and advisory in direction, which is why it is priced as consulting rather than included as access.
Why it matters
It is the highest-bandwidth analyst interaction generally available, and generally the most expensive per hour. That combination makes it the format where the gap between companies with a clear position and companies without one is most exposed — a full day of expert attention aimed at an unclear question produces an expensive restatement of the question.
